I did it!

I am officially done with stunt school. I am now an apprentice member of the United Stuntman's Association. BOOYAH!!! My last week of aerial intensive went really well. It was hard to say goodbye to my new friends and even harder to stop being able to do stunt work everyday. My best friend Ben and I left Seattle yesterday after brunch and are now in Deadwood, SD. We had an unbelievable cajun prime rib dinner and gambled the free $10 I got for staying at our hotel. I'm ahead $.10! YEAH! Tomorrow we're on our way to Mount Rushmore! Minnesota State Fair on the horizon!!!!!

Mini Tramp & Stair Falls

Today was awesome! The mini trampoline was hard. I think I got the hang of the sit fall and the header by the end, but the face off still is pretty rough. I just need more practice.

However, stair falls were great! I had a lot better time with these stunts. Here's a video of my last barrel roll. (Maestro pushed me off on this one.)

I also did some pretty good forward and backward stair rolls. I'll try to get at least one of those videos uploaded soon. Tomorrow we start martial arts.did some pretty good forward and backward stair rolls. I'll try to get at least one of those videos uploaded soon. Tomorrow we start martial arts.

Work hard, play hard.

Yesterday we filmed our club/knife fights and then watched them while being critiqued. It certainly was not the best day for most people. Lots of foul ups, but this made for lots of good learning. My fight went pretty darn great comparatively. Our technique was basically all there. We had one little flubby spot, but we pushed through just fine and they thought I did a fairly good job of taking the note about being more aggressive and less funny. Plus our scene was short and to the point.

Today was our first day off. I slept in, did my laundry, then Amanda and I went downtown to check out Pike Place Market. It turned out to be a beautiful day. I really wanted to find this pie shop I had seen on a food network special, but it was alluding us. We finally asked for help at this great coffee shop called Seattle Coffee Works. My breve was great and we made our 20 min trek up hill to High Five Pie. I had an exquisite piece of Marion berry pie with snicker doodle ice cream. We had almost gotten back to the car when we ran into some other stunt people, so we tagged along with them and got a beer after some group planking/owling pictures.

When we got back, everybody went to the Bowl & Skate and did some serious skating for a couple of hours.

Crash. Head in pillow. Stair falls and mini tramp tomorrow. :)

Primal weapons!

Today we fought with clubs (about 2-2.5 feet bamboo sticks) and knives. All I can say is that I felt very aggressive today. RAAAAAWWWWRRRR!!!!!!

Fighting on Film

Today we practiced our fight that we learned yesterday. Then we filmed and watched them. Well, more like the teaching staff tearing the fights apart. They like our fight. It was funny, but it also had great technique and acting values that played well to the camera. Yeah, go stunts!

Groin shots and beatin' up women...

Another day down, another sore muscle(s)... Today, we reviewed our stomach punches and moved on to kicks. We did both out of range and contact kicks. Then moved on to hair pulls and contact slaps. That's right folks I said contact slaps, but before you get all uppity because I spent the better half of 30 min slapping a girl :) we then did contact groin shots! And there is nothing better than a room of 60 people kicking each other in the crotch or as the Maestro calls it: getting kicked in the goolies. :) Groin shots are funny - DC Wright tm. The second half of the day we spent learning a choreographed fight that we will film tomorrow and critique. Now for a couple of episodes of Archer and then bed. :)

First Day of Stunt School!!!

Today was the first day of Stunt School. It went very well. The first half of the day we did front and back falls, front and back rolls, break falls, and dive rolls. I then had a great green curry at this thai place. the second half of the day we dealt only with punches and their reactions. (i.e. cross, jab, straight, hook, stomach, uppercut, pile driver, and a back fist/elbow) Tomorrow we start kicks! Yeah!

I will also be continuing to upload my trip out west along with my Spokane adventures with Sara and Jeff. Internet at the hotel is weak, so uploading is slow. Should be fixed soon!
