Farewell France!

It's our last day in France. We loaded the bus and went to the Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle in the thick fog. As we toured the castle the mist lifted revealing the surrounding mountains as it rolled over the landscape. Then we drove through Alsace wine country and several "Beauty-and-the-Beast-esk" towns. We stopped in the quaint town of Obernai and had a quiche lorraine. After that we went to Natzweiler Concentration Camp. Very heavy.

  1. Disney used a lot of Alsace for inspiration. In fact they were sent to Obernai to be inspired for Belle's village which is painfully obvious when you get off your bus and walk across the same little bridge as she does in the beginning... then you get her song stuck in your head, but in French because your french teacher made you memorize it just so it would get stuck in your head on the class trip to France.

The Chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg, about 30 mins away, was used as a model for the Beast's castle, though I don't see much of a resemblance.
